This video actually proves to Mr. Bennett and others that cheerleading is an actual sport and not just cheerleaders looking pretty! This video is great for my topic because it explains what a actual sport really is. The video is showing how hard the boys and girls are working to get what they want to achieve. When the girls stunt with the boys you can actually see how hard they have to squeeze so that the stunt won't come down or even anyone getting hurt. It also shows the cheerleaders tumbling ability which as you can see it beyond awesome! At the end of the video it has a really great quote which I think that we all can agree on "Competitive Cheerleading is not on the sidelines cheering on a team, but it's own independent sport. Much trainig and a very high skill level is imperative to succeed."

Why isn't Cheerleading Considered a Sport?--2

Just because cheerleaders wear really short skirts and there ponytail on top of there head doesn't mean that cheerleading shouldn't be considered a sport. Cheerleading has clawed its way into its way into the realm of a sport all on its on. Cheerleaders never gets recognized for all the hard work that they do besides when they go to competition. Cheerleading Competitions is what I think makes a cheerleader a REAL athlete.
Cheerleading Competition is not something easy to compete in. Just like trying to get to the playoffs in football isn't easy getting in, you have to work extremely hard for the playoffs so that you know that you will have a spot. So for cheer competition the cheerleaders have to first of all be physically and mentally prepared to be in it to win it. After the girls/boys has there minds made up they will begin either learning there dance, cheer, tumbling paths, and most of all challenging stunts. Once they have all of these things done they will just continue to practice until it is time to for the competition. Once the cheerleaders gets to competition it is time to show off all of there hard work that they have done the past few months. Once they are done the girls/guys will have to wait and finally later on that night they will get there results on how well they did.
So remember just because cheerleaders wears short skirts and high ponytails doesnt mean that they are not a athlete. So do you still think that cheerleading isn't a sport?

Why isn't Cheerleading considered as a Sport?

Many people think that the only main sports are football, baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer. Why do they think this? Just because they can score points or can be on ESPN? Well, I think that a very important sport always gets left out or just not considered as a sport. This sport just happens to be cheerleading. Cheerleaders work just as hard as any other sport does. It may appear to you that all cheerleaders do is stand on the sideline and kick and scream with very loud annoying voices but that's not even close to what a cheerleader has to do.
Firstly, cheerleaders must be in tip top shape in order to kick and jump and perform there stunts to there best ability. By being in shape they must work out, lift weights, and of course CONDITION. Cheerleaders has to practice everyday just like any other sport so when it is time to cheer the team on they will know just what to do because of practicing all week. Even though cheerleaders may not score points on the field, when they go to competetion they get out on the mat and BRING IT ON!!
